Kroc Center poolThat’s what Major Donna Ames, executive director of the Salem, Oregon Kroc Center, has the privilege of telling those who ask her how the Kroc Center is doing.

On the first anniversary of the center’s grand opening, the Ray and Joan Kroc Corps Community Center is filling a niche and meeting needs in a big way.

Here’s how things are going:

  • Instead of the projected 4,000 members, the Salem center has 10,000
  • Daily use of the center averages well over 1,300, not the 800 expected during development
  • There are 220 people gainfully employed at the Kroc Center
  • The Corps – a Salvation Army worship community – has increased in size this year from 125 to 200
  • A worship service in English and Spanish is held each Sunday
  • And, in response to the demand, the Kroc Center has added group fitness classes and programs for senior citizens too

  • Another sure sign of excellence is that the Salem community has embraced the Kroc Center and made it a home. For that, we say thank you!

And, we want to congratulate Major Donna Ames and her staff for a job well done. Happy Birthday to the Salem Kroc Center!
