Learning from the most famous mouse in the world!

The Salvation Army’s fundraising and public relations professionals from across the United States are in two days of training in Orlando, Florida at the Disney Institute.
The Disney professionals are teaching us about their legendary company values and practices. While so much has changed in the intervening years, Walt Disney’s vision of 60 years ago still guides the company today. It’s been quite a learning experience.
During the training, each of us will cycle through five sessions on topics important to Disney and any other company that wants to pursue excellence; leadership excellence, people management, quality service, brand loyalty, and inspiring creativity.
We’re only half way through the training, but we’ve already been given so much to think about.
For example, do we deliver an experience that far exceeds the expectations of our donors, volunteers, customers and guests? Are we communicating our core values through our behavior?
Thankfully, the training will not stop here in Orlando. We have a lot to talk about when we get home too.
On behalf of all my colleagues, we’re grateful to The Salvation Army and our new friends at Disney for the opportunities this training will give all of us to change and grow our beloved Army.

I am so glad that I had the opportunity to be one of the over 3,000 people that attended NAOC 2011 at Disney “Just Imagine” if everyone could have been enthused, encouraged, stretched and amazed as we were!
