Innovative Salvation Army ads target people in need

Unless you live in Seattle, you probably haven’t seen The Salvation Army latest advertising campaign. Instead of billboards, bus bench signs and mall kiosks asking you to financially support people struggling with hunger, addiction or homelessness, the ads are targeted specifically to people in crisis.

Sign up for The Salvation Army’s Thanksgiving tech “fast”

But The Salvation Army’s Youth Department in the Western Territory is doing something about it.

Concerned about addiction to our handheld BFFs, they’re asking us to ‘fast’ on Thanksgiving Day.

Thankfully, they’re not asking us to give up food, just our electronic devices; cell phones, iPads, and other distraction-causing, person-to-person conversation killers. Let’s enjoy Thanksgiving with our loved ones and engage in some actual chat.

Using real words. From our mouths. Spoken out loud.

Can you do it? Can you put your phone away for the duration of your Thanksgiving dinner and pre- or post-meal football game?
