The Salvation Army in Alaska puts on one of my favorite events each year, called Transformed Treasures.

Local artists scour our thrift stores for clothing, furniture, household items, jewelry, bric-a-brac, etc., that’s in need of a little love and attention and can be re-made into a thing of beauty. The Transformed Treasures are then auctioned off to support the work of The Salvation Army in Alaska.

The event will be held on Saturday, May 3, 2014 at the Egan Center, 555 West Fifth Avenue in Anchorage.

Here are some photos from previous a year’s event. The first photo is of the “found” item and the photo that follows it is the “treasure.” Click the white arrow to start the slideshow.

The results are always a wonderful reminder that The Salvation Army in the full-time business of helping people see their true worth – found in Jesus Christ.
