Next week is a major holiday we observe here at The Salvation Army in the US. It’s not a religious holiday imbued with deep meaning and eternal significance. No, it’s National Donut Day on Friday June 5th.

Because, donuts!

In keeping with our tradition to honor this fine day by revering our nation’s veterans and eating donuts (surprise!), here’s a list of activities that are open to the public in the Western US so you can make this holiday part of your life too!

Arizona
Donors who make a drop off at Salvation Army stores in Phoenix can get one dozen Krispy Kreme donuts free through the Donate for Donuts program from now through Friday, June 5. Click here for more information.

California
The Monterey Donut Shop will give their first 100 customers half off on their order in honor of National Donut Day on Friday, June 5. I’d call that a double bonus: you’re in beautiful Monterey AND you get discount donuts. Lucky you!

In San Diego, a crew of ladies decked out in Salvation Army Donut Lassie costumes will be handing out donuts and posing for photos at Belmont Park, a local seaside, historic attraction! Stop by and snap a selfie while you enjoy your delicious donut!

The Salvation Army staff in San Francisco will share donuts and coffee with the veterans at the San Francisco Veterans Administration Clinic at Third & Harrison in the SoMa neighborhood.

The USS Iowa, docked in San Pedro, will host a downright Donut Day extravaganza on Friday, June 5! Five donuts shops will be in attendance giving out free deliciousness; K-Earth 101 Radio’s Shot Gun Tom Kelley will be there spinning tunes; and, BakeMark will be presenting a $10,000 check to The Salvation Army for our Haven program on the West Los Angeles Veterans Administration campus. Discount tickets to the USS Iowa museum will be available for Friday tours only.

Donut Day is a tasty day of fun but we do it to honor our service men and women and The Salvation Army Donut Lassies who served them. Click here for a full explanation of the meaning behind Donut Day.
