Next week is a major holiday we observe here at The Salvation Army in the US. It’s not a religious holiday imbued with deep meaning and eternal significance. No, it’s National Donut Day on Friday June 5th.
In keeping with our tradition to honor this fine day by revering our nation’s veterans and eating donuts (surprise!), here’s a list of activities that are open to the public in the Western US so you can make this holiday part of your life too!
Donors who make a drop off at Salvation Army stores in Phoenix can get one dozen Krispy Kreme donuts free through the Donate for Donuts program from now through Friday, June 5. Click here for more information.
The Monterey Donut Shop will give their first 100 customers half off on their order in honor of National Donut Day on Friday, June 5. I’d call that a double bonus: you’re in beautiful Monterey AND you get discount donuts. Lucky you!
In San Diego, a crew of ladies decked out in Salvation Army Donut Lassie costumes will be handing out donuts and posing for photos at Belmont Park, a local seaside, historic attraction! Stop by and snap a selfie while you enjoy your delicious donut!
The Salvation Army staff in San Francisco will share donuts and coffee with the veterans at the San Francisco Veterans Administration Clinic at Third & Harrison in the SoMa neighborhood.
The USS Iowa, docked in San Pedro, will host a downright Donut Day extravaganza on Friday, June 5! Five donuts shops will be in attendance giving out free deliciousness; K-Earth 101 Radio’s Shot Gun Tom Kelley will be there spinning tunes; and, BakeMark will be presenting a $10,000 check to The Salvation Army for our Haven program on the West Los Angeles Veterans Administration campus. Discount tickets to the USS Iowa museum will be available for Friday tours only.
And, grab a special treat from one of 1,200 donut shops across Southern California with the sign in the window shown here from now to June 5th. A portion of each sale will be donated – through BakeMark – to The Salvation Army.

Our lovely, faithful friends at Lamar’s Donuts will be giving a free donut to anyone who makes a donation to The Salvation Army. Our red kettles will be at Lamar’s locations across the state from June 1 to June 8. Click here for a store locator.
Salvation Army staff will serve 55 dozen donuts, orange juice and coffee to veterans at the Grand Junction Veterans Administration Hospital from 9AM to noon on Friday, June 5th. If past years are any indication, the veterans will be lined up by 8:30 waiting for a delicious treat. And we’re thrilled to serve them!
Wayne Yamaguchi of Love’s Bakery will provide SO MANY donuts that every shopper in the following Salvation Army thrift stores will get a donut and coffee between the hours of 9AM to 11AM!

Donut House in Hayden is getting into the Donut Day spirit by giving a free one to those who makes a gift to the red kettle in their store! Get this, you don’t have to park your car and go inside to get one: just cruise through the drive-thru. Isn’t America great? Proceeds will benefit our Kroc Center in Coeur d’Alene.

No matter where you are in the US, you can “like” Entenmann’s Facebook page to trigger a $1 donation for The Salvation Army. They’ll donate up to $30,000, so get in there and click like before June 30! In the past three years, Entenmann’s has raised more than $70,000 through this program. We’re incredibly grateful for their faithful support.
